After two failed attempts with the Peugeot brand in India in the past, French car Major Groupe PSA plans to re-enter India with the Citroen brand now. The company announced on Tuesday that the first locally-produced vehicle will hit the Indian roads before the end of 2021 after launching the production of powertrains.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Groupe PSA said, Citroen is Groupe PSA’s chosen brand for the Indian market. Groupe PSA which has made a swift turnaround under Carlos Tavares, chairman of the managing board, confirmed the Group’s ambition to conquer new markets and announced that the Citroen brand has been chosen to enter the Indian market.
“Citroen will be back in India, no later than 2021. We have already invested, created a manufacturing footprint in India with a power train and vehicle manufacturing vehicle plant and we have a partner. Very soon, (we will come out with) disruptive family of products, that will be international products,” added
