NEW DELHI: Yoga guru Ramdev's Patanjali group has welcomed the new e-commerce draft policy and has said that the new rules will boost swadeshi, even as the economic unit of the RSS swadeshi Jagran Manch has opposed the clause that enables Indian-owned and Indian-controlled online marketplaces to hold inventory fearing circumvention of FDI in multi-brand retail norms.
The new policy suggests Indian owned and Indian-controlled online marketplaces are allowed to hold inventory as long as products are 100% domestically produced, a relaxation on marketplace e-commerce firms not available for entities controlled by foreign investment.
